The Department of FISCal plans to continue offering Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT) courses into the fall, with a focus on procurement. More courses in accounting and other modules also are in the offing this fall but are not yet scheduled. Available through the University of FI$Cal (UF), these classes take system users step by step through module processes so they gain a thorough understanding.

Procurement classes coming in September include:

PO1002 Procurement Contract Functionality

Attending this class will give participants knowledge and understanding of the procurement contract functionality in the FI$Cal system. This includes but is not limited to the following:

  • 5 Ws – what, who, when, where and why
  • Creating a procurement contract and the approval workflow process.
  • Searching/managing procurement contracts (amending/updating/editing, etc.)
  • Troubleshooting tips and resources – the ability to troubleshoot, identify and solve issues and be able to address them appropriately.

PO1004 Purchase Order Functionality Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT)

Attending this class will give participants knowledge and understanding of the PO functionality in the FI$Cal system. This includes but is not limited to the following:

  • 5 Ws – what, who, when, where and why
  • Create a PO and the approval workflow process
  • Search/manage PO (i.e., canceling, closing, updating/editing, etc.)
  • Troubleshooting tips and resources – the ability to troubleshoot, identify and solve issues and be able to address them appropriately.

VILT procurement courses consist of a PowerPoint presentation with live demonstrations in a training environment. They are relevant to anyone with contract buyer/approver or PO buyer/approver roles. These classes were held in August but filled up quickly, so they are being offered again this month. FI$Cal will send out email announcements with new course offerings once they are scheduled. If classes are full, users can click the wait list button on the enrollment page to be added to the wait list.

In September, FI$Cal plans to test a new version of the procurement courses in an effort to add hands-on exercises for students in the TR6 environment. These courses will not be offered until October at the earliest. FI$Cal also will be adding accounting classes to the schedule.
