FI$Cal is piloting a new tool to automate month-end close (MEC) and streamline the process for departments, so they can send an automated E-mail request to the State Controller’s Office (SCO) to close their  months without sending tickets to the FI$Cal Service Center (FSC). The tool is expected to roll out to all departments this summer!

During our Imagine FI$Cal workshop this past April, our end users told us to provide departments with more functionality that they can control. This new tool will enable department MEC administrators to run their own MEC self-service process within the FI$Cal system and see a page that displays the latest open periods for each sub-ledger.

Users can run all sub-modules at once or one at a time and also AM and GL modules sequentially and see the status of each one with issues highlighted in red. Departments can fix those issues on their own and rerun the process, only needing to contact the FSC if issues remain.

If there are no outstanding issues an automated email will be triggered by the system to SCO requesting to close periods.
