The Department of FISCal (FI$Cal), in partnership with the Department of General Services (DGS), was recognized by two organizations for its excellence in innovation and collaboration. The purchase order payment history search tool was given the National Association of State Chief Administrators’ Innovation in State Government award for digital services, data management, analytics and visualization, and the Government Technology’s Best of California award in Information Technology (IT) collaboration.
The FI$Cal purchase order payment history search tool provides the ability to search for and track payments made to suppliers, increasing government transparency and streamlining an often disjointed process. The tool provides entities doing business within the state of California with multiple ways of searching for payment data and displaying information in a customer friendly format.
The Innovation in State Government Awards recognize state programs, projects and initiatives that exemplify leading practices in the industry. The digital services, data management, analytics and visualization projects award showcases, “the transformative power of data for decision making and insight”.
The tool provides access to payment information for contractors, including invoice, payment information and business certifications. By using this tool, businesses may better understand their payment status, saving valuable time and resources.
The Best of California awards program was established to recognize California state and local government and education organizations for their dedication, hard work and contributions in IT. The IT collaboration award recognizes, “the innovative and collaborative use of IT to cross boundaries to support common business processes, or share data, or create a knowledge-sharing culture, or enhance public services, or promote innovative partnership programs.”
The purchase order payment history search tool project represents a highly collaborative effort between FI$Cal and DGS. “As a commitment to businesses, we challenged ourselves and partnered with the Department of FISCal to create a modern approach to the state’s complicated payment process.” said Lorna Brisco, DGS partner business executive who worked closely with the FI$Cal team to develop the tool.
