As the Information Technology Manager (ITM) I for FI$Cal’s Software Platform Services Section (SPSS), you’ll lead the team that keeps California’s statewide financial system running smoothly. SPSS manages the design, installation, upgrades, monitoring, and optimization of critical software platforms and middleware like PeopleSoft, Hyperion, Oracle WebLogic, and Essbase—while also ensuring backup, recovery, and disaster readiness.

In this role, you’ll partner with other IT teams to provide reliable, high-performing platforms that support development, testing, and production across FI$Cal. You’ll set standards, align technology with business goals, and ensure system availability and performance.

Most importantly, you’ll inspire and guide your team to deliver quality results on complex projects—serving as the key communicator and leader for FI$Cal’s software platform services. Working under the guidance of our Business Intelligence Services Section Chief, you’ll dive into data models, analyze information, and develop reports that drive decision-making across state departments.

The ITS I collaborate with business partners and technical teams across FI$Cal to design and build reports using structured query language (SQL) and other tools that meet real-world business needs. Every report you create helps departments across California manage billions in public funds with accuracy and transparency.

This role sits in our Software Engineering domain, so you’ll get hands-on experience with system architecture, software development, and application support — all while learning about cutting-edge enterprise systems. You’ll also help develop and deliver training to end-users so they can work more confidently and efficiently in FI$Cal.
