Searching for SB and DVBEs


Purpose: Demonstrate how to search for certified Small Businesses (SB) and Disable Veteran Business Enterprises (DVBE) in FI$Cal.

 

Scenario: Your goal is to locate certified SB/DVBEs in FI$Cal using various search criteria.

Steps:

  1. Begin by navigating to the State of California Certifications page.

     

    Click the Main Menu button.

  2. Click the Certification Process menu.

  3. Click the Public Search menu.

  4. The State of California Certifications page is displayed. This page contains many different search criteria that can be used to locate a certified SB or DVBE in FI$Cal.

  5. Use the Business Name or Supplier ID fields if you know exactly which business you would like to view.

  6. To do a general search for all certified businesses, select any of the options in the Certification Type section to return all results matching those types.

  7. Use the Business Type section to further refine the results of your supplier search.

  8. You can enter keywords to narrow your search for suppliers. Keywords are identifiers that suppliers have provided to categorize their business.

     

    To enter multiple Keywords, use the add a new row button at the end of each keyword line.

    The add a new row button resembles a plus (+) symbol.

  9. Use the Zip Code field to search for a business within a specific Zip Code.

  10. Use Service Area ID field to search for specific counties in California where the business may operate.

  11. Use the UNSPC Classifications field to search for category codes that a business has identified with.

  12. In this scenario, first search to see if Diamond Truck Body Manufacturing Inc. is a certified company. Then do a more general search for all SB and DVBE certified businesses.

    Enter a valid value e.g. "DIAMOND TRUCK BODY MANUFACTURING INC".

  15. Select the Small Business and Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise options to see if this company has received those certifications.

    You can use the View Profile link to view this company's supplier profile that contains high-level information such as contacts and addresses for the business.

  21. Next, search for all SB/DVBE certified businesses by changing the search criteria fields.

  23. Remove the text from the Business Name field, but leave the SB and DVBE options selected in order to return a list of all SB/DVBE certified businesses.

  30. The Search Results grid displays the company name, the name and email of the company contact person, the business' certification type, and a link to view the supplier profile for each business.

  31. You can customize your view of these records by using the options at the top of the Search Results grid.

     

    Options here allow you to navigate through the list of records. For example, by using the Show previous row or Show next row buttons, you will see another grouping of records.

     

    You can also use the First or Last links to quickly jump to the beginning or ending of the list of results.

  32. Using the Download button would allow you to export all the records in the table to a Excel document.

     

    This would allow you view and filter the records using Excel functions, if desired.

  33. On this page, there is a View 100 link which would allow you to view 100 lines of records at one time if desired.

  34. Next, use the View Profile link to view more information about The Silver Line Company.

  36. The Supplier Profile page is displayed. This page contains additional detail about the selected supplier.

  38. Use the various links shown on the page to view different information about this supplier, such as their identified keywords and classifications or their application.

  39. At the bottom of the page, there are sections to view Active Certifications and Certification History (if previous records exist) for the supplier.

  40. In the Active Certifications section, you can see that the SB certification for this supplier is Approved. This means that the supplier has completed the application process in FI$Cal.

  41. If this supplier had previous certification information, a Certification History section would also display below with the status of the prior certifications.
